Workshop
for Adult Children of Alcoholic or
Abusive Parents -
A presentation by licensed professional
counselor, Jim Fedorka
Thursday, March 18
7:00 - 9:00 PM in ABF #3
This is a program that will look at the
effects growing up in an alcoholic or
abusive home has on people even into
their adult lives. Children growing up
in these types of families suffer many
traumas and consequently devise ways to
cope with their pain that may become
problems later in their adult life. Some
common characteristics of adults who
have experienced these childhood traumas
are:
they judge themselves
without mercy
they guess at what is
normal
they lie when it
would be just as easy to tell the truth
they constantly seek
approval and affirmation
they over-react to
changes over which they have no control
they have difficulty
with intimate relationships
they have difficulty
having fun
If you grew up in an
alcoholic or abusive home and seem to
struggle with life issues, this program
may help you understand why and give you
some ideas on what to do about it. There
is no cost for this workshop, but
registration is required so we may
prepare materials for you. Walk-ins on
the day of the program will be welcome.
To register, call Jim Fedorka at (330)
819-9469 and leave your name, e-mail
address and phone number.
