For
this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should
love one another.
1
John 3:11 (KJV)
Just
the other day a friend and I were discussing that there are so many
very special people at The Chapel. People who have become close
friends in a short period of time. People who seem to set aside all
forms of division and truly show interest and respect for others.
Is
it the water we drink, the donuts we consume, or is it that love that
truly marks a child of God? 1
John 3:23 tells us "...we should believe on the name of
his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another..." Again, in 1
John 4:7-10 the Scripture assures us " Beloved,
let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth
is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God;
for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we
might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but
that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our
sins."
My
friends, as you go about The Chapel halls, keep your head up and a
smile on your face or you might miss a very special person who needs
your cheery "Hello, glad to see you!"
My
prayer for The Chapel at this Christmas season is that we all continue
to break down the walls that could divide us. You know their names;
mark them well. The economic, social, intellectual, academic,
positional, race and many other barriers that the world uses to give
themselves importance. They have no place in a fellowship of Christ,
who by His example loved the unlovely: you and me.
In
Christ,
Gary
