From the August, 1999 edition of The Doulos monthly newsletter

by Ray Birkholz

Summertime is a great time to re-emphasize our meditation on God and His Word. Meditation places us in the right perspective to learn from God. Psalm 19:14 encourages us to "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and Redeemer."

Meditation on the Scriptures will facilitate the communication between God and us so we can learn His will for our lives. God tells us in Jeremiah 33:3 to "Call to Me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and unsearchable things which you do not know."

Every meditation on Christ and his salvation for us will result in our gaining more wisdom, new motives to love and obey him as Lord of our life. The consistent benefit of meditating on God and His Scriptures is the resulting praise we give to Him for loving us and being our God.

In Christ,

Ray Birkholz
