George
Barna, president of Barna Research Group, said, "Almost every measure of
religious behavior we have available is currently at, or near it's low point
for the past decade. This includes church attendance, Bible reading, and adult
group participation." What a vision of the reversal of this trend we have
at The Chapel with its building expansion and its spiritual dedication!
I
have been studying Exodus and God's detailed plan for the building of the
tabernacle. One outstanding concept is the "fragrant offering" that
God demanded of the people. This "fragrant offering" was a precise
mixture of many components added to give a sweet smelling odor unto the Lord
when burned on the "altar of incense." We are a people in The Chapel
coming from many and diverse backgrounds. A "mixture" of people that
come to praise Him and pray in His house (worship) and seek to please God
Himself --- a sweet smelling offering (Psalm
141:2a). We are called to offer unto our Lord a precious and costly
offering --- dedicated and sincere hearts and minds unto Him.
My
prayer, Lord, as I yield myself to you today and every day of my life, is to
make me a "fragrant offering" that brings glory and honor to You.
Would you make that your prayer also?
In
Christ,
Jim
