Spring
is a great time of year to focus on God's role as the Creator. Today, I thank
God for creating the beautiful world in which we live. As the leaves return to
the trees and new flowers bloom every day, the reminders of God's long list of
creations are almost exploding before our eyes. It is particularly dramatic
this year in northeastern Ohio after we've experienced one of our longest and
coldest winters.
But the creation story of Genesis which began with such great promise turned a
dark corner when Adam and Eve disobeyed God's command. From that point on, the
sinful nature adopted by Adam and Eve has been passed on to each of us. This
sinful nature seemed destined to forever separate us from God and His promise
of eternal life. We were even taught that we could not see God's face except
upon the penalty of death (Exodus
30:20). What a dilemma for all who seek God!
We now know that God solved this dilemma by sending his son Jesus to earth in
human form not only so that he could be seen but so that he could die with our
sins residing in him and thereby return to us the promise of eternal life that
was lost in the Garden of Eden. As we marvel in God the Creator this spring,
let's also thank God for the precious gift of Easter.
In
Him,
