Psalm
37 has become one of my favorite passages in the last few
months. In this Psalm David reminds us of three commands: Do not
fret; trust and obey; delight in the Lord.
This
Psalm opens with:
Do
not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. (v.
1, NKJV)
Easier
said than done at times, but it is because you are measuring yourself
against someone else. That's the wrong thing to do. Always measure
yourself against the Lord Jesus Christ, because He is the One we are
to like:
...to
the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; (Ephesians
4:13b, NKJV)
David
reminds us in verses 2 and 3:
For
they (the wicked) shall soon be
cut down like the grass,
And wither as the green herb.
Trust in the LORD, and do good;
I
always know when I've stopped trusting the Lord for my needs and for
His help. My heart becomes heavy and burdened, and then I become
fretful and worried. I'm reminded..
Trust
in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell
in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
God
takes care of us (His own).
The
final item David tells us is:
Delight
yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
What
a great verse! Delight in the Lord. What my heart desires becomes in
agreement with His; attitudes and priorities are changed. I
have to remind myself daily: don't fret today. Look to the Lord in
faith, trust in Him and delight in Him.
In
Christ,
Fred
