Dear
Christian Brothers & Sisters,
As
we enter a new year with high expectations
and a desire to keep all those New
Year's resolutions (lose weight, be a
better parent, finish a project, etc.) we
feel great. Only to find in a few short weeks or days that
we have failed How do I know this fact? Many, many
years of trying myself.
So
what is the problem? Why can't I reach the goals I set
for myself? The answer is simple, my direction may not
be Christ's direction for me. As it is written in Hebrews
10:7, Christ said, "I have come to do Your will, O
God". Here is the example from the Son of God. So rather
than setting goals for my Christian life and personal
needs, let me ask God what He wants me to do
in this coming year. Let me be the clay in the wonderful,
loving, and all-knowing hands of the lord. Doesn't
it seem so logical to trust in the one that made me
in His image, who was willing to die for my sins just
to have me with Him, and only wants the very best for
me?
Let's
reflect on our lives. Who and where am I in my Christian
walk? Am I living for Christ or living for myself
and want God to help me gain my goals? Please
let it be a Christ living in us for each one at The Chapel
in 1997.
In Christ,
Pat Jones
