What is AWANA?
The acronym comes from the first letters of “Approved
Workmen Are Not Ashamed” from 2 Timothy
2:15. AWANA is an international,
Bible-centered program for children ages 4 through Grade 6. Each Wednesday
night children are provided with an opportunity to learn more about God
through Bible verse memorization, Bible lessons and game time. If you would
like to help out, AWANA currently needs 2 leaders for Cubbies (preschool
group).
If you would like to find out more about AWANA or volunteer to help
this year, please contact Mike Stone at (330) 830-0146.

AWANA Cubbies is the name of our Pre-K group. This is a fun and exciting time for Cubbies beginning to learn God’s word. AWANA will kick off on Wednesday September
5th 2007 @ 6:30pm (registration night). On that first night we ask that the parents stay with their children. After the first night the children will be dropped off in a classroom @ 6:15pm with their leaders. A typical evening at Cubbies consists of four different activities.
-
Game time in the Family Life Center (children will say the Pledge of Allegiance & the AWANA pledge before game time)
-
Handbook Time where children would recite the appointed verse for the week. At the Cubbies level your child is only responsible for one verse per week. Please review the verse daily with your child. The Children will earn patches for their vests as they complete each section in their handbook. Each child will be asked to provide a snack once during the year. Please watch for this schedule to be sent home within the first couple of weeks.
-
Bible Story Time where children will see a short puppet show and hear the Bible story that emphasizes the verse for the week.
-
Music & Craft Time where children will sing songs or work on craft projects
What to bring each week: Your child should wear their vest and bring their handbook. Please put your child’s name on their vest.
Cost for the year is $28.50 per child (book - $6.00, vest - $7.50 (can re-use if have one), & dues $15.00). Scholarships are available, or if you would like to sponsor a child please contact us. We are going to try to include the Cubbies in more activates this year. Below are some important dates to remember. There will be a bulletin board in the back hallway by the AWANA storage room that will be updated throughout the year with more important dates and other activities that will be going on.
